Justin Bieber has never been shy about his feelings for the paparazzi. In March, while celebrating his 17th birthday in Los Angeles, the teen sensation gave the paps who tried to snap a photo of him and lady love Selena Gomez the middle finger — although the Biebs soon apologized for it. Well, now that he's abroad taking his My World tour international, he's still finding himself pestered by the photographers' prying lenses.
On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to call out the paparazzi for trying to snap photos of him while he was in Israel taking in the sights. "Staying in the hotel for the rest of the week u happy?" he wrote. "People wait their whole lives for opportunities like this, why would they want to take that experience away from someone. They should be ashamed of themselves. Take pictures of me eating but not in a place of prayer, ridiculous."
Bieber was particularly upset that photographers didn't leave him alone while he visited sites of spiritual significance. "You would think paparazzi would have some respect in holy places," he lamented. "All I wanted was the chance to walk where Jesus did here in Israel."
Just one day before, Bieber tweeted about his excitement over being in Israel. "Just amazing place...not a bad day. just wish got a little more space and privacy from the paps to enjoy this time with my family. Thanks," he wrote. "I'm in the holy land and i am grateful for that. I just want to have the same personal experience that others have here."
Bieber's post then helped initiate his latest Twitter trend, #papsleavebiebsalone. As of press time it was one of the highest-rated trends, right behind the promoted #PlayBookHaiku. Other Bieber-related trends included #cheerupjustin and Holy Land.
What do you think about the paparazzi bothering Bieber while he's in Israel? Share your opinions in the comments.

Raising Sand, from Led Zeppelin vet and bluegrass superstar, wins five Grammys on Sunday night.

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant accept the award for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday

"I'm bewildered," Robert Plant said onstage as he accepted the Grammy Album of the Year award with Alison Krauss on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."
He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect Grammy album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.
You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.
Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released.
And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.
And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.
To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album.
"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards."

'I will be donating all of my personal proceeds...to various human rights organizations,' singer says of concert linked to Libyan dictator.

R&B superstar Usher announced Friday (March 4) that he was donating to various charities proceeds from appearing at a private event at St. Barts linked to Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, according to a statement made to the Associated Press.
The Grammy award winner's renouncement comes after similar announcements from singers Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, and Beyoncé, all of whom were revealed to have performed at private concerts linked to the Middle Eastern leader, who has faced open revolt and major political uprisings since February.
"I am sincerely troubled to learn about the circumstances surrounding the Nikki Beach St. Bart's event that took place on New Year's Eve 2009," Usher said of the concert, at which he appeared alongside Beyoncé but did not perform. "I will be donating all of my personal proceeds from that event to various human rights organizations."
Usher has already begun the process, having made a donation to Amnesty International, the AP reports. The exact size of the donation is not known.
The New Year's Eve gig was reportedly for Moammar's fourth son Muastassim, who an unnamed music industry source told MTV News has a history of throwing lavish parties "jammed" with supermodels.
Beyoncé, who sang at the event, donated all proceeds from her performance to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, established in the wake of the Haitian earthquake.
"All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago," the "Halo" singer's publicist said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "Once it became known that the third-party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."
Singer Nelly Furtado tweeted February 28 that she plans to make similar amends.
"In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Gadhafi clan to perform a 45 min. show for guests at a hotel in Italy," she tweeted. "I am going to donate the $."
The leader of Libya since a successful military coup in 1969, Gadhafi has reportedly lost control of much of his country as a result of widespread uprisings. The United Nations voted unanimously to refer the dictator to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Justin Bieber already has one of the top-grossing documentaries of all time with "Never Say Never." And he's gotten his feet wet doing a little acting on "CSI." So it just stands to reason that his next move is to full-on star in a movie, right?
Enter superfan Mark Wahlberg, who knows a thing or two about making the transition from teenybopper pinup to movie-opening star. Wahlberg — who in August said, "the world needs Justin Bieber ... Justin Bieber is like the white Tupac" — told New York magazine this week, "Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together."
That's right. Wahlberg said he's in talks with Paramount on the project and hopes to set the film up at the studio following his Academy Award-winning flick "The Fighter." But most importantly, Bieber is reportedly way into it and is excited to sign on for the project. "He loves the idea," Wahlberg said. "He's been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he's really talented."
Wahlberg described the movie as a drama in which he would play a "reluctant mentor in an inner-city environment," but cautioned that neither he nor Bieber will sing or dance in the film. In fact, last August Wahlberg said he wouldn't break his nearly two-decade-long hip-hop silence ... unless Bieber asked him to.
Deadline Hollywood reported that the untitled drama is an exploration of street basketball in which Bieber will get a chance to show off his dramatic chops. Wahlberg and partner Stephen Levinson will produce alongside Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun. The script is being written by Ian Edelman, creator of HBO's "How to Make It in America."
"The tone of the project is described as 'The Color of Money' meets 'The Karate Kid,' and it came out of Wahlberg and Levinson seeing Bieber play ball in February during a celebrity game held during NBA All-Star Game weekend," Deadline reported.
Bieber has clearly been bitten by the acting bug. In September he raved about his guest appearance on "CSI" as Jason McCann. "I liked it because you never knew what was going to happen. Now that I'm on it, it's pretty cool," he said of the show. "It opens a different audience to the show," he explained of his appearances, "and it also helps me because a new audience that might not know me is now going to see me. So it works both ways."

'If time allows, there will definitely be new music,' Robert DeLeo adds of STP's future.
By Chris Harris

There are a number of reasons why Stone Temple Pilots decided to reunite after nearly five years apart — some are obvious, and others, not so much.
Of course, the financial windfall of reviving the grunge stalwarts for an extensive U.S. tour was too good to pass up, and bassist Robert DeLeo readily admits as much. And then there are the fans, the ones who had been with STP since the very beginning as well as those who discovered the band only after it first split back in 2003 and who, woefully, have yet to catch the Pilots live.
On a more personal level, though, Stone Temple Pilots' resurrection was purely selfish, and very much an anticipatory (not to mention optimistic) move on the band's part: If, after the months and months of rumors and denials, there ever is a full-on Led Zeppelin reunion tour, STP wanted to be ready to offer their services as an opening act.
"Believe me, that was one of the reasons," laughed DeLeo. "We thought, 'We should get together now, in case Zeppelin does tour.' I'm serious, man. That would be one hell of a bill: STP and Led Zeppelin. I mean, we could play a doghouse, out in the middle of the ocean, and if I got to play with Zeppelin, that would be a highlight of my life."
Yes, DeLeo — and the rest of the band — had several reservations about raising STP from the dead — a feat DeLeo jokingly referred to as "Mission Impossible." For the band's members, the idea of regrouping was terrifying at first, but with time, the boys settled their differences and tried to think positive.
"For me, it was about putting down some of the things that I was used to getting bitten by," explained the bassist — who, with guitar-playing brother Dean DeLeo, has been collaborating with Peter Frampton on material for his next LP. "After you get bitten, it's hard to go back. I wanted to go into this with an open frame of mind and a positive attitude and just have fun with it. We should have fun with it, which God knows we didn't always have with our career when we were younger. If that's all I can say, and that's what I can get out of this reunion, great.
"I think I speak for all of us when I say there's a lot of unfinished business that we didn't get around to the first go," he continued. "Enough time has gone by, and it feels really good to be back. I don't really want to put too much thought into how it feels — I'm just kind of going with it and keeping a good positive attitude about it. I just needed to get over the things that we all needed to get over, and that's been working so far. If everyone shows up and does this thing, I think it's going to be really amazing."
DeLeo claims that during recent rehearsals, STP were "sounding as good as ever," and he credits sobriety as part of the reason the band's in tip-top shape.
"My brother's going on four years of sobriety," he said. "We have a lot more clarity in the band now, and I think with clarity comes appreciation. I saw that the other night, when we played [a secret gig in Los Angeles]. I saw it in my eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of the band. There's a lot more rock in this band now."
As for an STP record, DeLeo is not 100 percent sure that's going to happen. The goal for STP over the next few weeks, he said, is to reacquaint themselves with their songbook and prepare for their return to the road. Once the band is back in that mindset, the bassist said new STP material is very possible.
"I've always got stuff written, and there's always a long list of songs that are always there — it's a matter of timing," DeLeo said. "If time allows, there will definitely be new music. I think it would be silly not to release new music. I'd like to believe we still have a writing relationship, but the first step is getting reacquainted with what we know."
While STP were on hiatus, frontman Scott Weiland teamed up with Velvet Revolver, and the DeLeo brothers joined forces with Filter's Richard Patrick for Army of Anyone — who are now on hiatus after releasing a poorly received self-titled LP. Does DeLeo foresee an AOA reunion somewhere down the line?
"You never know," he said. "It's just like STP — I didn't know if I was going to return. Whether we get back together and do anything, I think we made a great record, bottom line. That's all that matters to me. If we make another one, I want to make sure it's great, and that applies to STP and anything I do. But I was pretty heartbroken over [the feeble response to AOA's album]."

Aquarium Drunkard, the Los Angeles-based site that features daily music news, interviews, reviews, MP3 samples and original music sessions, was named the winner of the inaugural O Music Awards' Best Independent Music Blog award on Tuesday (April 26).
As determined by fan voting, AD beat out a field that included sites like BrooklynVegan.com, ArjanWrites.com and GorillaVsBear.net to win the Best Independent Music Blog title. Started in 2005 by Justin Gage, the site features contributions from everyone from My Morning Jacket's Jim James to Robyn Hitchcock, and has since spun off a record label (Autumn Tone Records), a series of live concerts, and a weekly broadcast on Sirius/XM's XMU channel.
Aquarium Drunkard joins a host of early O Music Award winners; Andy Grammer's choose-your-own-adventure-style "Keep Your Head Up" was named Most Innovative Music Video after a roundtable debate on Monday, and Adam Lambert and Nicki Minaj also picked up wins (sort of), taking home the Favorite F--- Yeah Tumblr trophy and Favorite Animated GIF award, respectively.
When they were announced earlier this month, the O Music Awards promised to be an alternative to the usually staid world of award shows, and they've lived up to the billing by announcing several winners ahead of the actual broadcast ... a trend that will continue in the days leading up to the show, as the winners of categories like Best Fan Forum, Best Animal Performance and Best Tweet will be revealed.
The first-ever O Music Awards stream live from Las Vegas on Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.

Fans are eight weeks away from the launch of the Femme Fatale tour. Britney Spears, along with top-line tour opener Nicki Minaj, will get the party started in June in Sacramento, California.
Minaj has called the slot "an honor." When MTV News caught up with the Barbie herself in New Orleans for the latest stop on the I Am Still Music Tour, she opened up a bit more about the matchup.
"She's definitely iconic and I'm very excited," Minaj explained. "It's weird. I just always remember her, since I was little, ruling the world, so I'm really excited to just expand my fanbase and show people that I can be a part of any world."
Minaj is the reigning princess in the hip-hop world, and she feels that hooking up with pop's leading queen will expand her horizons, even if she has to make some changes to her stage show.
"Of course I will adjust some things. I definitely will take away that one particular stage prop," she said of one very phallic object, adding that her music and set list will basically stay the same. "We'll add some stuff 'cause I got some new things coming out this summer, some new records."
Earlier this week, Minaj called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show, promising that things will be characteristically over-the-top when she hits the road with Spears.
"I'm calling to let everyone know how thrilled I am, how honored I am to be going on the road with the iconic Miss Britney Spears this summer. I just know that when the Femme Fatales and the Barbs get together, we're going to kick major ass," she said. "And I am looking forward to creating a new, a bigger, a brighter, a more spectacular show. And I am just really, really excited to make history with Britney, so you guys, make sure you come out this summer."

Judge pushes start of Conrad Murray's trial back to May.

LOS ANGELES — Though Conrad Murray's lawyers had been pressing for a speedy trial, a judge in the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson's doctor ruled on Wednesday to delay opening statements in the proceedings until May.
The Associated Press reported that Murray's attorneys consented to the postponement after they discussed the matter with prosecutors and both agreed they could be ready for trial by May 9.
According to a transcript from the closed-door session, though opening statements will not begin for several months, Murray told Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor that he did not want to forfeit his right to a quick trial, but agreed to the delay if screening of prospective jurors begins as scheduled on March 24.
"It is only acceptable to me if this is not strung along over a long period of time," Murray told the justice. "I don't want to lose my constitutional right to speedy trial." Murray — who has pleaded not guilty to the charges — reportedly has been in favor of having the proceedings begin as soon as possible because he is facing financial troubles, but he said he understands that the delay is necessary to allow both sides to prepare for the trial.
Pastor consented because he said he didn't want to lose a jury pool, and believed a month-long delay might let potential jurors shuffle their schedules for the case, which could take up to two months to decide. The judge has reportedly clashed with Murray's defense team in recent weeks, pressing them for answers about why they had not turned over more witness notes and other potential evidence to prosecutors in the run-up to the trial.
Cardiologist Murray was hired to be Jackson's personal physician while the King of Pop prepared for his planned 50-date comeback series of shows at London's O2 arena in the summer of 2009. The doctor told police that he provided the then-50-year-old Jackson with sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol in order to combat the singer's chronic insomnia. He said he did so on the morning of June 25, 2009, when Jackson died of what a coroner deemed acute propofol poisoning.
Murray's lawyers reportedly plan to argue that Jackson was already in weak health before he died, that it's unfair to blame propofol for his passing and that, if the anesthetic was to blame, the pop superstar may have given himself the fatal dose by drinking the drug in a panic.
A status hearing in the case has been set for this Wednesday.

'Captain America just changes things and there's no 'off' switch,' he tells MTV News about playing Marvel war hero.

Last year, in the run-up to casting the lead role in "Captain America: The First Avenger," actors rumored to be competing to play the Captain included Garrett Hedlund ("Tron: Legacy"), Wilson Bethel ("Generation Kill"), John Krasinski ("The Office"), Mike Vogel ("Cloverfield") and Chris Evans.
The part eventually went to Evans, despite serious trepidations he had about jumping into another superhero franchise following his turn as the Human Torch in two "Fantastic Four" films.
"I look back now and I can't believe I almost didn't do it," Evans told MTV News recently. "I can't believe I almost didn't do it! For better or worse, no matter what happens with the film, whether it's a good film or not, it was the right thing to do and I'm glad I did it."
And he's still doing it. Over the weekend, Evans was on location in Times Square putting the finishing touches on the production ahead of the flick's July 22 release date. As part of our ongoing Summer Movie Preview Week, we're debuting an exclusive photo of Evans in character as the World War II-era hero and we sat down for a chat with the star to discuss his thoughts about the Marvel film.
"I was pretty nervous. I remember the first time I went to a fitting and I put on the suit and I just was so terrified, so focused on the negatives, still," he said. "I'm not quite sure when it turned. I bet when I was at that Comic-Con [in August], I was probably still terrified, probably still apprehensive about whether or not this was right."
Indeed he was. Back at the Con in San Diego, he said of taking on the project, "It wasn't an easy 'yes.' I get nervous in things like this and Captain America just means a lot of this. I was in a really happy place in my life; kind of in a happy medium place in my career, and Captain America just changes things and there's no 'off' switch once you walk down that road."
Now, though, the production is nearly complete and the 29-year-old actor couldn't be happier with what he's seen of the Joe Johnston-directed movie. "I've seen quite a bit, but I haven't seen a full cut," Evans said. "Everything I've seen, I really like. I don't like jinxing things because I've made some films in the past that I've seen bits and pieces of that I liked and then you see the full film and get the full experience and the full pace and the journey and it might not be the same thing. Individual scenes in a vacuum can be misleading. I will say this: Every single individual scene that I've seen I've loved."

British songstress talks stage fright and body image in Rolling Stone cover story.

While she was besting Britney Spears on the American album charts and helping to lead a new British invasion, U.K. soul pop diva Adele also landed the cover of the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
And though the cover marks yet another milestone of her rising fame, Adele isn't immune to some of the same fears as the rest of us, say, stage fright. Despite her calm assurance in the studio and apparent ease at coping with her sudden success, the Grammy winner told the magazine that she still has nervous nights.
"I'm scared of audiences," she said. "One show in Amsterdam I was so nervous, I escaped out the fire exit. I've thrown up a couple of times. Once in Brussels, I projectile vomited on someone. I just gotta bear it. But I don't like touring. I have anxiety attacks a lot."
And it's not just audiences that freak her out, it's other celebrities. But the singer revealed that she has drawn some strength from an unlikely source: Beyoncé. "I was about to meet Beyoncé and I had a full-blown anxiety attack," Adele said. "Then she popped in looking gorgeous, and said, 'You're amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I'm listening to God.' "
When she later found herself on a balcony, crying hysterically, Adele asked herself, " 'What would [Beyoncé's alter ego] Sasha Fierce do?' That's when Sasha Carter was born." The composite of Sasha Fierce and late country icon June Carter is pulled out whenever Adele needs to give herself a shot of confidence.
The 22-year-old also said that in a world of size 0-2 pop divas, she has no problem being a bit more voluptuous than her peers. "My life is full of drama, and I won't have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like," she said. "I don't like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine."
That said, Adele noted that while she's not likely to do any nude photo shoots anytime soon, she can totally appreciate the sight of her fellow female pop stars' naughty bits.
"Even if I had a really good figure, I don't think I'd get my t--- and a-- out for no one," she said. "I love seeing Lady Gaga's boobs and bum. I love seeing Katy Perry's boobs and bum. Love it. But that's not what my music is about. I don't make music for eyes. I make music for ears."

Lady Gaga lives to confuse. From her interstellar stage costumes to her alien-like facial ridges and meat couture, Mother Monster keeps her fans on their toes. Take, for example, the recently revealed cover art for her hotly anticipated Born This Way album.
In addition to instantly spawning a legion of goofy parodies, the Gaga-as-motorcycle image has also done exactly what the pop star likely intended: set the Internet on fire with lively conversation, argument, conjecture and just a bit of unfocused rage.
Here, then, are what a few of Gaga's many opinionated followers had to say about the Born This Way cover art:
"I don't really understand what the album cover has to do with the theme of the album which is supposedly about being yourself (born this way)," wrote fan AB in reaction to an MTV News story on the image, a surreal assemblage depicting Gaga as the front fork of an "Easy Rider"-style chopper. "Obviously she wasn't born to be a motorcycle lol also the font on the cover and the picture was just done really bad they could have done a much better job."
In a nod to the obsessive nature of Gaga fandom, however, Windrider countered with exactly why the cover makes perfect sense. "She foreshadowed this type of design perfectly in two remarks that her fans SHOULD be recalling by now: 'I don't want to be part of the machine. I want the machine to be part of me.' From her appearance on Google Talk," wrote Winrider, referencing Gaga's Google interview with fans in early March.
"The second is the entire discussion with the Haus in Gagavision #42 about the covers, when they talk about the DIY aspect of cover design (e.g., 'Judas') and doing something that is a 'f--- you' to the over-commercialized graphic design aesthetic. And of course, it's Gaga doing the very LAST thing you'd expect her to do."
Tamara totally agreed, dubbing the woman/machine blend a fitting metaphor for Gaga's relentless professional drive. "Gaga is so energetic and does so very much all the time ... she is a MACHINE, and an amazing, fast, stylish, revved up one at that!! Go Gaga! Nobody can top her," she wrote.
And there you have it. Nothing happens by chance in GagaLand, and her fans see meaning in every word and deed. That said, not everyone was convinced. "Not too fond of the album cover but honestly, not like many album covers from other musical stars are much better," wrote Doodlebug. Vjuggalo, meanwhile, didn't think it was creepy, just "uninspired" and, frankly, a hack photoshop job with "horrible" perspective and scaling.
Others were just plain confused about what the motorcycle had to do with the album title (was Gaga born ... a motorcycle?) and suggested other images that would have made more sense. "I'd rather have seen a naked newborn baby on the cover! At least it would fit," said Cathy. "I remember when album covers actually meant something, and often matched the concept of the album or album title. It is the ugliest CD/album cover I've ever seen and Lady Gaga looks like she walked off a horror movie set."
Even Paul Teutul Jr., the "American Choppers" alumnus whose life is dedicated to creating monster machines, was on the fence about Gaga's metal meld.
"Looking at it, I would've made it more of an integration of her into the bike. It would be more seamless. In other words, it would be her and the bike morphed," he told MTV News. "If you're Born This Way, then it almost has to look kind of mermaid-ish, in the sense that there's this fusion between the actual mechanical aspect and the human perspective. ... It's a little cut-and-paste looking. I would've done something even integrated throughout the bike that would've been more 'Lady Gaga.' "

With her final year of high school drawing to an end, Dakota Fanning flashed a smile as she finished up a long day of studies in Studio City, CA on Monday (April 25).
The talented young star looked a bit tuckered out from the full day of cracking the books as she slowly but surely ventured out to her awaiting car.
Quite the commendable attitude, Dakota has expressed that high school is very important to her - even turning down roles to keep her schedule as normal as possible while closing out her senior year.
Meanwhile, Miss Fanning will next be shooting the Jesse Baget directed thriller "Mississippi Wild" - which co-stars Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker and Robert Duvall.
